Led by artist and illuminator Mahmud Manning, 10 people from Bradford and surrounding areas have developed illuminated pages using gold, gouache and paper to dive into the ancient arts of Quranic Illumination.
Traditionally bound books were hand-written and opening pages illuminated using gold and natural pigments. Students began an odyssey of understanding and practical application using British Museum examples as a starting point for their own expression and learning.
This has been a one-year journey and we hope visitors will enjoy these final pieces and share in the celebration of these works and the endeavour undertaken.
