Islamic Arts as a tool for linking communities 2019

Project Partner: Heaton St.Barnabas CE Primary School
Location: Bradford
Programme: Part of Amal Programme 2019

Predominantly Muslim students at a Bradford primary school and students of other faiths and none at a Hereford school learned the skills of calligraphy and Islamic art with artist Razwan Ul-Haq. These art forms, little or unknown to both groups, were embraced by them with great enthusiasm and formed common ground to share the similarities and differences of their cultures in Skype sessions. Exhibitions of their work brought more parents than usual into school and were also shared with the wider community.
