At the heart of Othello is the question of identity. Who is the Moor of Venice? What parts of himself does he have to hide, so that he can survive in a city which sees him as both saviour and sorcerer? In this final instalment of The Othello Project, this pre-show discussion explores what it means to belong. In a time when alienation can lead to violence, the questions about who we are and with whom we feel most comfortable loom uncomfortably large. LSE-based ethnographer and PhD candidate Nabila Munawar draws on her studies of everyday Muslim youth to help us explore some of these thorny issues. She’s joined by activist, Independent columnist and communications guru Muddassar Ahmed.
The panel will be chaired by journalist Abdul-Rehman Malik.
