“You are not a drop in the ocean, you are the entire ocean in a drop.” – Rumi
The still point at the centre of the mystical tradition concerns itself only with the purest experience of life, love and God. Centred around this point at the core of being, the greatest mystic poets have experienced a depth of feeling that has led them to write some of the most haunting, beautiful and profound verse ever written.
The mystical tradition, stretching from Rumi and Hafez to Rilke and Blake, continues to inspire contemporary poets and artists in a multitude of languages, crossing borders and building bridges between people. Join event host Abdul-Rehman Malik with Ben Okri, Zeina Hashem Beck, Dh Maitreyabandhu, Jamil Morris, Zahra Taheri and Ron Geaves for an enchanting event of contemporary poetry connected to this mystical tradition.
The event will culminate with a devotional performance of whirling dervishes, whose motions are a form of dhikr (remembrance of God).
