Re-Fuel with Tamasha Theatre
As we finish our series of videos showcasing some projects from Amal’s pilot year, we thought we’d share this one.
Re-Fuel with Tamasha Theatre brings together young people and Muslim playwrights to create works of bold new theatre. Re-Fuel sent four playwrights, supported by emerging theatre directors, into four inner London secondary schools: Mulberry School for Girls, Swanlea School, Hampstead School and Regent High School. Through a series of imaginative drama exercises, students developed characters and storylines focused around a minicab office. The writers gathered the students’ ideas and developed them into plays that were performed to public audiences with great success at Rich Mix and Theatre Royal Stratford East this month. We hope the plays will be published and taken up by other schools.
Here are students from Mulberry School for Girls telling you their story.
